What about the thought of an economic upturn?

Either way, we as real estate investors need to be prepared whatever the economy throws in our direction.

Join the Utah REIA for the August Networking Luncheon for a special panel discussion of, "How to Prepare for the Ups and Downs of the Real Estate Market".  This panel will feature the following seasoned investors who have been enjoying the real estate economic roller coaster since before 2008:  Juston Puchar, Geoff Dearing, Matt Strong, and Jeff Rappaport.

The panel discussion will be facilitated by Roger Jacobsen, Networking Luncheon Chair and fellow investor, who will ask each panelist questions to help us identify what we can do to ensure we have a successful future in real estate, no matter what the market.

MORE ABOUT JUSTON:  I began investing in 2004 where I bought my first home in Murray. At the time I didn’t know if I would rent it or live in it, whether I would change the carpet or clean it.  If I should rip out the powder blue counter and forest green backsplash or refinish them.   All of these choices forced me to create systems and reasons for why I should or should not make decisions that affect my bottom line.  I am far more intentional how I do things now—creating immense value and benefit for myself and my clients.  Today I have been in business for 16 years, directly as a Realtor, Investor, flipper, property manager, landlord, Lender, and Entrepreneur. All of these experiences have given me great perspective and skill in making key decisions that create a full life for my family.  I am an avid cyclist, husband, and proud father of 2. I love and enjoy what I do every day. 

MORE ABOUT GEOFF:  Geoff has been an avid investor for over 17 years. He began when he first got married, buying a duplex, and has worked on hundreds of deals and millions of dollars worth of real estate since. He has coached with gurus like Robert Kiyosaki and Carleton Sheets. Geoff has extensive experience with real estate investments specializing in commercial and residential cash-flow property. He has taught these concepts to thousands of students all over the world! He currently invests in apartment complexes, Single Family Residences, and other commercial buildings. He founded the Utah Real Estate Investor's Association six years ago and currently presides as the President of that organization. He resides in the greater Salt Lake area with his wife Rebecca and son Lucas.

MORE ABOUT MATT:  Matt is the principal in Sierra-West Capital which provides funding for short term real estate projects. To date SWC has funded over 500 transactions and 110 million in volume.

Matt Strong is a Co-Founder of MS2 Properties, LLC and Conrad Cruz Real Estate Services Brokerage. MS2 Properties has purchased and re-sold over 400 single family homes since 2004 by utilizing value add strategies.   

In addition, Matt also owns, either solely or with partners, over 46 rental units. Mr. Strong also regularly represent buyers and sellers in traditional real estate transactions. 

Matt received a Masters of Real Estate Development (MRED) from the University of Utah in 2015, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance (Real Estate emphasis) from the University of Utah in 2001.  Matt has been a member of the Salt Lake Board of Realtors since 2001 as a sales agent and since 2007 has held a Broker’s license.

MOST importantly, Matt is married to the most awesome human ever - Bree Strong and has 3 equally as cool kids; Birkley, Peyton and Wilder.

MORE ABOUT JEFF:  I grew up in Utah since I was 8 years old. I went to the U of U for both undergraduate and graduate school. I have a 15 year old daughter that is the apple of my eye. I am very fortunate to share this journey of building a business with my best friend and love of my life, Rebecca Jensen. 

I have been involved in real estate investing since 2000. I got started in real estate by ordering some books and tapes through an infomercial on TV. I built a successful business based on buy and holds by taking over debts (no qualifying for new loans) and putting no money down. I supplemented that part of my business with short sales. In 2006, I branched out into high end renovations, commercial projects and land. After the crash of 2008, I lost everything! I was totally out of real estate by the end of 2011.

In 2014, I began my second journey in real estate. I am primarily a wholesaler for the time being. I work in Utah and Idaho and may even look at branching out to other markets. Soon, I will be holding properties and will make commercial projects a bigger emphasis in my business. 

I have experienced many of the highs and lows of real estate investing. I have a passion for teaching real estate to others and had a separate business where I did just that. I currently teach new investors through an Apprentice program I developed. I believe education is critical to any investor’s success and continue to soak up as much information as possible.

ABOUT THE SPONSOR:  Hi!  I’m Coco!  I am originally from Rexburg, ID but moved around a lot as a kid.  I moved 32 times by the time I was 22 and in Arizona I lived in 3 different houses on the same street!  (I was destined to be in real estate haha!!)  My family and I moved to Utah from Las Vegas about 3.5 years ago.  My husband and I met at In-N-Out Burger, where we both worked, in 2001.  We were married in 2005 and have 2 amazing red-headed kiddos!  Baylee is 11 and Brax is 8.  After managing at INO for almost 20 years, I had a conversation with my uncle about real estate investing.  I wanted to get my money working for me!  Within 150 days I bought my first rental property and got my real estate license.  7 months after that I resigned from In-N-Out and went into real estate full time.  I help families find their forever home, and I am passionate about helping people build wealth through real estate!
